How does aluminum foil formed

Jun 07, 2023

Aluminium foil is formed through a process called rolling. The raw material, in this case pure aluminium, is first cast into large slabs or billets. These are then heated and passed through a series of rolling mills to reduce the thickness of the metal.

As the metal is passed through the rolling mills, it is gradually reduced in thickness and becomes longer and thinner. This process is repeated several times until the desired thickness is achieved. The final product is then wound onto large rolls, which can weigh several tons.

The rolling process also stretches and aligns the aluminium crystals, which makes the foil stronger and more durable. To further enhance its properties, the foil can be annealed or heat-treated, which helps to reduce its brittleness and makes it more flexible.

Once the foil has been produced, it can be cut, printed, and embossed to meet specific application requirements. Aluminium foil is widely used for packaging, insulation, and cooking, among other applications.
